The parish preparation programme for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist draws on the famous words of St Thomas who said 'My Lord and My God' when he saw the Lord after his resurrection.  This story is found in John's Gospel 20:19-31.

Preparation Programme 2024
Our parish programme is open to children in year 4 or above.
The programme is designed to support adults (parents, carers, Godparents and others) to assist their child in preparing for these two important sacraments.
Participation in the programme includes:
  • Children attending children's liturgy
  • Monthly Parent / Adult sessions mainly online which is in response to recent experiences and feedback from parents.
  • Three Saturday morning family sessions.
There are a range of paper and online resources which will be shared during the programme to support families during this special time of preparation.

My Lord and My God is based on six core themes:
God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit
God's Story - The Bible
God's Family - The Church
God's Forgiveness - The Sacrament of Reconciliation
God's Greatest Gift - The Sacrament of the Eucharist
God's Relationship - Our Prayer Life

The programme gives adults and children a chance to:
  • learn more about the Holy Mass;
  • learn about the Sacrament of the Eucharist which is the second sacrament of initiation;
  • learn about the Sacrament of Reconciliation which is known as one of the healing sacraments;
  • find out more about the Bible and the catechism;
  • experience different types of prayer for use within the family.
